Oirase Sprout Picnic at Hoshino Resorts Oirase Keiryu Hotel - Limited Experience Among Over 100 Species of Budding Trees

Hoshino Resorts Oirase Keiryu Hotel, the only resort hotel along the Oirase Gorge, will host the "Oirase Sprout Picnic" from April 20 to May 31, 2026, limited to one group per day. This exclusive program allows guests to enjoy the spectacular spring scenery of over 100 species of trees bursting into colorful new growth. The hotel's stream concierge, who deeply appreciates the natural beauty of Oirase Gorge, will guide guests to the best viewing spot each day. In this private setting, guests can savor a picnic lunch inspired by the unique budding forms of trees like beech and katsura, along with three types of champagne cocktails that reflect the delicate color transitions of spring foliage.

Feature 1: Prime Seating for the Day's Most Beautiful Budding Gradation

Prime seating surrounded by budding trees

From late April to mid-May each year, over 100 species of deciduous broad-leaved trees at Oirase Gorge burst into bud simultaneously. The mix of multiple tree species creates stunning gradations of budding colors, a景色 景色only possible in environments rich with deciduous broad-leaved trees that grow new leaves each year. This program features careful selection of the timing and location where this budding display is most beautiful. The stream concierge, who loves the nature of Oirase Gorge, will guide guests to that day's best spot—a prime seat where they can enjoy lunch while feeling the stream's murmur and witnessing the budding process up close.

Feature 2: A Carefully Crafted Picnic Lunch Celebrating Various Budding Forms

The program features a "Sprout Picnic Lunch" that expresses the shapes and textures of three distinctive tree species among the 100+ types growing at Oirase Gorge. This lunch consists of multiple items including sandwiches, snacks, and cookies, all designed with light flavors and colors to evoke the refreshing feeling of the new green season. In particular, the following three items faithfully represent the unique budding characteristics of these trees:

Horse Chestnut: The changing leaf expansion during budding is expressed through a spreading leaf-shaped sandwich.

Beech: Shaved cheese represents the fluffy, downy buds, while tuile expresses the fine leaf veins in a cheese snack.

Katsura: Heart-shaped cookies with pale coloring express the heart-shaped leaves and the yellow color visible in spring.

Feature 3: Three Types of Champagne Cocktails Expressing the Diverse Colors of Budding

Three champagne cocktails expressing budding colors

The hues of budding at Oirase Gorge change daily, with each tree species altering its color and form in response to sunlight and temperature. Three types of champagne cocktails express these delicate changes. By adding condiments (*1) to floral-scented champagne, guests can enjoy transitions in both color and flavor, experiencing the budding season through both visual and taste senses.

Matcha × Lemon: Yellow and light green gently blend, imaging the scenery of the forest just beginning to take on color at the start of budding.

Lime × Thyme: The transparency of young leaf green and the spreading fragrance of fresh greenery image the expanding scene.

Cassis × Berry: The red-tinged katsura leaves that stand out softly in the budding forest image.
