Kego Park (警固公園) in downtown Fukuoka City hosts "One Person, One Flower Halloween Fest 2026" (一人一花ハロウィンフェス2026) for five days, from Wednesday, October 28 to Sunday, November 1.

Note: From Tuesday, October 27 to Sunday, November 1, entry to the park is not allowed from 5:00 PM to 6:00 AM the next morning due to flowerbed maintenance.

About One Person, One Flower Halloween Fest 2026

Under the concept "Enjoying Halloween with Flowers" (花で楽しむハロウィン), the event decorates Kego Park in the heart of Fukuoka City with flowers. Following "beginning" in 2024 and "expansion" in 2025, this year is positioned as the year of "deepening" the connections between people.

The park building has already started before the opening. From August to October, preliminary workshops were held with children from 中央保育園, students from 西日本短期大学 and Chikushi Jogakuen University (筑紫女学園大学), and members of 福岡オレンジパートナーズ, in which each participant painted pictures on planters and root pouches (fabric plant pots). On opening day, Wednesday, October 28, participants plant flowers in those handmade planters themselves and complete the flower park together.

A "FLOWER MARKET" is also held for three days only, from Thursday, October 29 to Saturday, October 31. It sells cut flowers grown in Fukuoka City, flower seedlings, pots, and more. At the venue, students from Chikushi Jogakuen University exhibit and sell vases redesigned from unused wine bottles and hold a vase-making workshop. A "Cute Vase Exhibition" (かわいい花瓶展) featuring about 30 types of vases with unusual colors and shapes is also held.

Under the supervision of coordinator Fujii, who won the gold medal in the Garden Contest at Fukuoka Flower Show 2026, students, nursery school children, and people from welfare facilities work on decorating the park and creating the flowerbeds at the venue.

Preparatory workshops held from August to October this year included painting pictures on the planters and root pouches (fabric plant pots) used in the park. On the main day, October 28, seasonal flower seedlings coordinated by Mr. Fujii are planted in the planters and root pouches the participants made, and everyone completes a colorful, lively flower park together.

Citizens' Flowerbed Contest

People who grow the city's flowers gather in the middle of Tenjin

In Fukuoka City, the "One Person, One Flower Movement" (一人一花運動), in which citizens, companies, and the local government grow flowers and greenery together to fill the city with flowers, has been spreading. The Citizens' Flowerbed Contest (市民花壇コンテスト) is an occasion where the people who carry out this work gather in one place and show the results of their everyday activities.

This year again, six citizen groups chosen by open call will create flowerbeds on the theme "Enjoying Halloween with Flowers." The participants are groups that regularly look after neighborhood parks and flowerbeds and take part in One Person, One Flower activities. They bring the experience and ingenuity they have built up growing flowers in their own communities to decorate Kego Park.

At 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 28, the results are announced and an awards ceremony is held, deciding the top award and the excellence awards. The works can be viewed throughout the event period.

Behind each flowerbed shown in the downtown park lies the daily life of citizens who keep growing flowers across the city. The contest is also an opportunity to let many people know about such local activities and to connect them with new participants.

FLOWER MARKET

Three days to choose flowers grown in Fukuoka and take them home from Tenjin

This year, the "FLOWER MARKET" is held on a larger scale. It is designed so that visitors can enjoy not only looking at flowers but also choosing them, taking them home, and growing them in daily life. At the park entrance, decorated with hand-painted planters and citizens' flowerbeds, the flower market is set up for three days from Thursday, October 29 to Saturday, October 31. Just before Halloween, it is a chance to spend an autumn moment choosing a single flower to take home in the middle of Tenjin, whether on a weekday lunch break or a weekend outing.

Cut flowers grown in Fukuoka City on display in Tenjin

The main attraction is seasonal cut flowers grown by producers in Fukuoka City. There are not many opportunities for people in the city center to consciously pick up flowers that bloomed locally. Flower seedlings, foliage plants, pots, and more are also available. If you see the flowerbeds at the venue and think, "I want to try growing these at home," you can choose flowers and pots on the spot and take them home.

Student project: a workshop making vases from wine bottles

Students from Chikushi Jogakuen University exhibit and sell vases redesigned from unused wine bottles. A workshop to make your own vase together with the students is also held. A flower chosen at the market can be placed in a handmade vase and taken home.

"Cute Vase Exhibition" with about 30 types of vases

The "Cute Vase Exhibition" (かわいい花瓶展) gathers about 30 types of vases with colorful and unusual shapes and designs, and is held at the same time. If you find a favorite vase, you can buy it on the spot.
