A new limited-time summer menu is now available at Asakusa Chaya Tabanenoshi (浅草茶屋たばねのし), a Japanese-style crepe shop in Osaka's Shinsaibashi area. From May 19, 2026, the shop is serving a seasonal pairing of Kakegawa matcha and yuzu — a combination designed to feel refreshing in the warmer months.
Limited-Time: Kakegawa Matcha & Yuzu Crepe
Price: ¥1,250 (tax included)

The "Kakegawa Matcha & Yuzu" crepe uses batter infused with fragrant matcha sourced from Kakegawa in Shizuoka Prefecture. Inside, chilled matcha ice cream and a generous portion of yuzu sorbet are wrapped together. Topping the crepe is yuzu warabi mochi — soft and lightly springy in texture — along with sweet red bean paste (anko). The bittersweet depth of the matcha contrasts with the citrusy tang of yuzu.
Limited-Time: Kakegawa Matcha & Yuzu Soda
Price: ¥650 (tax included)

A special drink using the same Kakegawa matcha and yuzu combination is available alongside the crepe. The cold drink brings together the deep umami of Kakegawa matcha with the clean, refreshing aroma of yuzu. For those who want an extra burst of refreshment, a sparkling water version is available as an option.
About Kakegawa Matcha
Tabanenoshi uses matcha from Kakegawa, Shizuoka Prefecture — a region widely recognized for its tea production. The matcha is sourced from a tea garden with over 100 years of history and a record of award-winning quality, characterized by a refined aroma and rich, layered flavor.

Beyond the seasonal item, the menu also features the Kakegawa Matcha Brulee (the shop's most popular item) and a Shinsaibashi-exclusive Kakegawa Matcha Tiramisu. Other options include sweet potato (mitsuimo) crepes and classic anko butter crepes in both plain and matcha batter, as well as a Kakegawa Matcha Latte.
Kaga Mizuhiki Packaging
A distinctive feature of Tabanenoshi's crepes is their presentation. Each crepe is wrapped in paper adorned with Kaga mizuhiki — a traditional decorative cord craft originating in Ishikawa Prefecture. The mizuhiki are handcrafted one by one by Ryusuke Tsuda, a fifth-generation artisan, lending the wrapping a refined, traditional Japanese character.
