teamLab is bringing its interactive artwork "Sketch Aquarium: Connected World" to Onagawa Machinaka Koryukan, next to Sea Pal Pier Onagawa in Miyagi Prefecture, from August 29 (Saturday) to September 23 (Wednesday/Holiday), 2026.
The exhibition comes from "Learn & Play! Future Park," an educational project built around teamLab's concept of co-creation — the idea of creating freely together with others. In "Sketch Aquarium: Connected World," fish drawn by visitors swim through a shared "ocean" that links teamLab exhibition venues around the world, connecting city to city.
Sketch Aquarium: Connected World

This aquarium is filled with fish that everyone has drawn.
Visitors freely draw a fish on a sheet of paper. Once finished, the drawing comes to life and begins swimming in the giant aquarium in front of them, alongside fish drawn by other visitors. The swimming fish can even be touched — and when a fish is touched, every fish nearby darts away. Visitors can also feed the fish by touching the feed bags.
Among the fish, the tuna swim beyond the bounds of this single installation, traveling to other exhibitions held elsewhere in the world, such as other "Sketch Aquarium: Connected World" venues or "Sketch Ocean." At the same time, tuna drawn just now at those other locations may swim into this "Sketch Aquarium: Connected World" as well.

"Learn & Play! Future Park" is an exhibition enjoyed by children and adults alike. Since its debut at the Ryubo department store in Okinawa in November 2013, it has traveled to Sydney, Bangkok, Shanghai, Tokyo, Turin, Budapest, Jakarta, Johannesburg, and many other cities around the world, and permanent installations are currently running in places including Singapore, Dubai, Okinawa, and Kyoto. More than 15 million people worldwide have experienced it to date.
The exhibition is presented by Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc.
