Kyoto's "Tempura Kaisen Komefuku" Opens First Tokyo Location at Marunouchi TOKIA

A popular Kyoto-based casual tempura izakaya is making its Tokyo debut. Tempura Kaisen Komefuku (天ぷら海鮮 米福) Marunouchi TOKIA is set to open on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in the basement of Tokyo Building TOKIA in Marunouchi, Chiyoda.

What Is Tempura Kaisen Komefuku?

Light tempura fried in 100% rice bran oil alongside other Japanese dishes at an affordable price

Built around the motto "cheap and delicious is best," Tempura Kaisen Komefuku has been operating as a casual tempura izakaya across Kyoto and the Kansai region. The menu centers on crispy, light tempura fried entirely in rice bran oil, alongside a variety of sushi, fresh seafood sourced daily, and other Japanese dishes — all served at accessible price points.

The restaurant's approach combines technique with approachability: each piece of tempura is fried individually, and the menu also covers Kyoto-style obanzai side dishes and Izumo soba, reflecting a range of regional Japanese food culture. The interiors feature warm wood elements sourced from reclaimed timber.

Three Highlights of the Marunouchi Location

1. Tempura Fried in 100% Rice Bran Oil

All tempura at Komefuku is fried in rice bran oil, which is rich in nutrients derived from brown rice — including γ-oryzanol (an antioxidant) and tocotrienol (a form of vitamin E).*1 The oil's excellent drainage properties mean the tempura feels noticeably lighter than typical fried food, making it a practical option for a weekday lunch without the heavy, sluggish feeling afterward.

2. From Set Meals to Evening Drinks — a Wide Range of Options

Beyond the signature tempura, the menu includes creative "kawari-age" specialty fritters, nigiri and rolled sushi, sashimi platters, braised fish, and Izumo soba. Classic izakaya staples such as kamaboko with wasabi and dashi-maki tamago egg roll round out the à la carte selection.

Whether it's a hearty set lunch or an after-work drink with snacks, the menu adapts to different occasions and group sizes.

3. Convenient Location in the Heart of Marunouchi

Located in the basement of Tokyo Building TOKIA, the restaurant is three minutes on foot from Tokyo Station's Marunouchi South Exit, and directly connected to the Keiyo Line's Marunouchi Exit No. 11. It aims to be an everyday dining destination for solo diners, small groups, and larger parties alike.
