The Royal Park Hotel Fukuoka Unveils Traditional Crafts Room Featuring Hakata Weaving and Hakata Magemono

The Royal Park Hotel Fukuoka (located at 2-14-15 Hakata Ekimae, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City; General Manager: Akihiro Matsumoto) has launched a new Traditional Crafts Room in its premium floor Junior Suite on February 3, 2026, and has begun accepting reservations. Through traditional Hakata crafts featured throughout the room, guests can connect with the city's history and aesthetic sensibilities, inspiring them to explore the local area.

This initiative is implemented in collaboration with Fukuoka City's "Inbound Tourism Consumption Expansion Project Through Traditional Industries." As part of THE Series of Royal Park Hotels' "THE Regional Story"* concept, this project positions itself as a program supporting craft culture preservation from a nationwide perspective, with the goal of passing on the value of craft culture to future generations, resulting in the creation of the Traditional Crafts Room.

*【THE Regional Story】represents the five stories inherent in every city where we operate our hotels—history, food culture, natural environment, craftsmanship, and people—carefully woven together and expressed through both facilities and services. This common concept across THE Series positions hotels not merely as "places to stay" but as "hubs for deeper regional understanding," aiming for sustainable tourism and regional co-creation.

Traditional Crafts Room

The room features foot throws, pillows, and sofa cushions made with Hakata weaving, a traditional craft with over 780 years of history that has been refined over time and was once presented as tribute to the shogunate. Additionally, amenity boxes crafted from Hakata magemono—made carefully using only natural materials without any metal—captivate guests not only with functional benefits like antibacterial properties, water absorption, and moisture retention, but also with their exquisite beauty. The room also displays impressive Hakata dolls showcasing delicate craftsmanship, creating a special space where guests can feel Hakata's traditions and culture.

The room also provides Hakata gamaguchi pouches, made using traditional Hakata weaving techniques fashioned into practical coin purses. "Bring Japanese beauty on your travels." Take this traditional Fukuoka craft with you as you explore the city.

*Pouches are for loan only. Purchase options are available for interested guests.
