BASE LAYER HOTEL FUKUOKA, a culture business hotel developed by GREENING Co., Ltd. and fav hospitality group Co., Ltd. (a company in the Kasumigaseki Capital Group), is set to open on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
A Culture Business Hotel as a Base for Exploring the City
The name "BASE LAYER" refers to the foundational functional wear used in outdoor activities such as mountain climbing. The BASE LAYER HOTEL brand was created to serve as a base for active city explorers, offering the essential functions of a travel hub. The brand's first location, BASE LAYER HOTEL NAGOYA, opened in Nagoya Nishiki in July 2025. The hotel has earned attention for its design that goes beyond the business hotel category, its comfortable stays, and its content that connects guests to the city. This brand, known for appealing to seasoned travelers of all ages, genders, and nationalities, is now making its way to Fukuoka, a city rich with its own unique food culture and local character.
Seven Room Types, Including a Room with an In-Room Sauna
The guest rooms blend functionality and comfort with carefully considered design. They feature bed linens, pajamas, towels, and bath mats by the apparel brand FRUIT OF THE LOOM, as well as the cado air purifier, which combines design and performance.
The Double Room and Twin Room, ideal for business trips, are compact yet playful spaces. The pegboard wall allows smart storage of belongings, and guests can also use it to display favorite items or travel mementos, personalizing the room to their taste.
The Family Room, which accommodates up to six guests, and the 50 m² Comfort Four Room both feature a Japanese modern aesthetic accented by the Free-Form Chair designed by Shigeru Uchida. A large LCD TV and a cube-shaped Bluetooth speaker, the Cear pavé, deliver a theater-like audio-visual experience.
Also noteworthy is the Sauna Twin Room, where guests can enjoy a sauna right in the room. It features a button-operated löyly (steam), a relaxation space, and BrainSleep bedding developed by the science-based sleep company BrainSleep — including the BrainSleep Pillow and BrainSleep Mattress. The pillow uses proprietary technology for a custom fit, and the mattress distributes body pressure to promote the ideal sleeping posture. Both are made with materials that are over 90% air, offering exceptional breathability to dissipate body heat after a sauna session, supporting a smooth transition to sleep.




Skin Lab Featuring athletia Products on the 6th Floor
On the 6th floor, a "Skin Lab" showcases products from athletia, the skincare brand introduced as amenities in select rooms. athletia focuses on sustainability and uses the power of nature to strengthen the skin and body's fundamental resilience. The Skin Lab is a space where guests can try products such as eau de parfum and deodorant mist, refreshing themselves with fragrance before heading out to explore the city. To commemorate the April 15 opening, the first guests to arrive will receive a complimentary mini Switching Aroma Room Mist while supplies last.

BL*MART: An Unmanned Convenience Store with Carefully Curated Goods
BL*MART (BL Mart) is a cashless, 24-hour unmanned convenience store open to all. The lineup includes BASE LAYER HOTEL original merchandise, shoe care sets by JASON MARKK, and other travel-ready items. It also features drinks curated by Kawakubo Saketen, a liquor shop from Itoshima, Fukuoka, and local Kyushu snacks — making it more like a select shop than a typical convenience store. The store aims to be a space that bridges travelers and local residents.

Community Lounge — Cafe & Bar on the 1st Floor
The 1st-floor Community Lounge_Cafe & Bar, featuring the BASE LAYER HOTEL logo prominently, provides a lounge space perfect for business work during a trip or simply unwinding. The sound system is a collaboration between Devon Turnbull, a New York-based sound designer behind the brand OJAS, and the Norwegian speaker brand NNNN, delivering an immersive audio experience. The space operates as a coffee cafe by day and a bar with a distinctive drink menu by night.

Local Culture Media "YOUR CITY IS GOOD?" for City Exploration Tips
BASE LAYER HOTEL also runs a local culture media platform called "YOUR CITY IS GOOD?", which introduces recommended city exploration spots curated by editors, shop owners, and artists who live in the area. The platform serves as a gateway to local culture, highlighting the best of each city alongside key figures in the local scene.

BLH BACKYARD Outdoor Area Opening This Autumn
Later this autumn, an outdoor area called "BLH BACKYARD" is planned to open, featuring a "Street Kitchen" food stall showcasing Fukuoka's culinary culture and a stylish "Pool & Sauna" area. The food stall will be run by the team behind the popular Nakasu street food stall "Nakanakanka" and its sister establishment "Hitotsu Yane no Shita." The sauna area will be architecturally designed by SNARK Inc. — the firm behind the popular Shibuya SAUNAS in Tokyo — and produced by TTNE, a pioneering name in Japan's sauna culture.
