CROSS POINT NAKASUKAWABATA, the restaurant at Hotel Oriental Express Fukuoka Nakasukawabata (Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City), is adding cafe hours from July 1, 2026 (Wednesday). It follows the breakfast buffet renewal introduced in January and the lunch and bar service that began in February, with cafe time now rounding out the day.
Many of the hotel's overnight guests are international travelers with a growing interest in Japanese culture and regional food, so the new cafe menu puts two of Kyushu's signature matchas — Yame matcha and Kagoshima matcha — front and center. For every order, staff whisk the matcha in front of the guest, so a visit is as much about experiencing Japanese tea culture as it is about the flavor.
Choose Your Matcha and Wagashi Set (¥1,000, tax included)
The centerpiece of the menu lets guests pair a matcha of their choice with a Japanese sweet. Two matchas are offered: Yame matcha, with a rich umami and gentle sweetness, and Kagoshima matcha, with a fresh aroma and clean finish. Each cup is whisked to order and finished in front of the guest, so the aroma and the frothy surface become part of the experience. For the sweet, guests pick one of three wagashi — ice monaka, mitarashi dango, or dorayaki — to enjoy alongside the matcha.
Yame Matcha Tiramisu (¥900, tax included)
A hotel-original tiramisu made with aromatic Yame matcha. Rich mascarpone cream is balanced against the light bitterness of the matcha for a refined finish, with a smooth texture and a lingering matcha note.
Matcha Affogato (¥800, tax included)
A Japanese-style affogato that pairs rich vanilla ice cream with matcha. The sweetness of the ice cream and the gentle bitterness of the matcha shift with each spoonful, making it a good choice for an after-meal dessert or a cafe-time treat.
Kyushu Matcha Tasting Set (¥1,000, tax included)
A tasting set that serves Yame matcha and Kagoshima matcha side by side. Though both are grown in Kyushu, the two differ in aroma, umami, and bitterness, making it an easy way to compare them.
Kyushu Matcha Drinks
A range of matcha drinks, including matcha lattes made with Yame or Kagoshima matcha, along with seasonal offerings, so guests can enjoy the aroma and flavor of matcha in a casual way.
Wagashi Trio Set
A set that brings together popular Japanese sweets — mitarashi dango, dorayaki, and ice monaka — to enjoy alongside matcha or coffee, each with its own texture and level of sweetness.
