THE VAULT ICE Opens at BANKER'S BAR in Nagoya's Historic Bank Vault Building This Summer

THE CONDER HOUSE, a restaurant housed in the renovated 1926 former Nagoya Bank headquarters in Nagoya's Marunouchi district, is opening a summer-limited shaved ice shop called THE VAULT ICE at its BANKER'S BAR. The event runs from July 1 to September 30, 2026, on weekdays only, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

About THE VAULT ICE

BANKER'S BAR is set inside the actual vault of the former Nagoya Bank headquarters, built in 1926. The bar normally operates as a nighttime venue and evokes the atmosphere of a Prohibition-era American "Speakeasy."

THE VAULT ICE draws on the original scarcity of ice — before modern refrigeration, ice was a rare commodity accessible only to the few. Even today, only around seven natural ice producers remain in Japan, still relying entirely on natural cold to slowly freeze their ice over many weeks. THE VAULT ICE combines that rare natural ice with carefully selected seasonal fruits and the distinctive setting of a historic bank vault, offering a shaved ice experience centered on the idea of rediscovering the value of ice itself.

Menu

VAULT No.00 — THE VAULT ICE

VAULT No.00 — THE VAULT ICE: ¥11,000 (tax and service included)

The flagship item features natural ice from Shokgetsu Hyoshitsu in Nikko — one of only seven natural ice producers in Japan. The ice is frozen slowly over 15 days or more in cold temperatures, producing a fine, cloud-like texture with few impurities. Seasonal Crown Melon, Shine Muscat, and Fuji Natsuhime are used generously, with their aromas and natural sweetness highlighted. The dessert is presented in a lacquered jubako box that opens to reveal a colorful arrangement of fruit. This item requires advance reservation.

VAULT No.01 — Conder Reserve

VAULT No.01 — Conder Reserve: ¥3,300 (tax and service included)

Based on CONDER TEA, an original blend from THE CONDER HOUSE, this kakigori uses a rooibos tea infused with lychee, rose petals, and peppermint. It is layered with a rich almond espuma and topped with lychee, peach, and grapefruit. Berry confit and vanilla ice cream are hidden inside the ice for a gradual reveal as you eat. No reservation required.

VAULT No.02 — Mango Coconut Lime

VAULT No.02 — Mango Coconut Lime: ¥3,300 (tax and service included)

This summer-limited kakigori features a generous half portion of Miyazaki mango, combined with coconut and lime. A homemade mango syrup is used to draw out the fruit's natural sweetness, while coconut crunch provides added texture. No reservation required.
