New Projection Mapping Work "Tokyo Rebirth" by Mika Ninagawa with EiM Opens April 25 at Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building

A new projection mapping work, Tokyo Rebirth, created by internationally active artist Mika Ninagawa with EiM: Eternity in a Moment, will begin screening on the east facade of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building from April 25 (Saturday).

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government presents projection mapping on the government building as part of its "TOKYO Night & Light" program, featuring light and sound art on the building's exterior year-round.

About the Work

Tokyo Rebirth portrays the city as a single living organism, depicting the energy of transformation lurking within its depths.

Cities like Tokyo are places where information and light flow ceaselessly, where chaos and order, life and death, all pulse against one another. Looking closely into those depths, colors and light burst outward from within rigid structures, and flowers gradually bloom in abundance. It is a scene of "the force of life" overflowing beyond the city's surface. As sound and light resonate together, the city shifts its expression as if breathing, quietly enveloping those who watch. At this moment where endings and beginnings intersect, a sense of the city awakening once more fills the air.

Tokyo Rebirth will be screened on weekends and public holidays only at 7:30 PM and 9:00 PM.

These screening times are scheduled from April 25 (Sat) through May 6 (Wed/Holiday). For screening times from May 9 (Sat) onwards, please check the official website. Note that the projection mapping program also features other works outside of these times.
