Celebrating Japanese New Year with Traditional Crafts
January 2-6, 2026
An exhibition and sale event showcasing rare traditional Japanese crafts that can be viewed up close
Venue: Edoya Honten (Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture / in front of Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine) Free admission
Dentoya Akatsuki (in cooperation with Suikyo Co., Ltd.) will hold the "Blessing Exhibition," a traditional crafts exhibition and sale event, at Edoya Honten (3-2 Miyamachi, Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture, in front of Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine) for five days from January 2 (Fri) to January 6 (Tue), 2026.
This exhibition features rare traditional crafts from Japan, including tamahagane accessories, washi paper products, straw crafts, and hand-painted kites, which can be viewed up close. During the event period, limited live demonstrations and sales as well as lottery activities will also be held. Admission is free.
Background
Japanese traditional techniques cannot survive through preservation alone. They can only be passed on to the next generation when people actually pick them up, use them in their daily lives, and proper compensation circulates back to the artisans.
The Blessing Exhibition was planned to present traditional crafts not as something from "a distant world," but in a form that can be welcomed into modern life, creating an entry point where makers and users can connect. During the event period, we aim to increase opportunities for interaction through exhibitions and sales, as well as live demonstrations and lottery activities, and further connect this to a system that sustains culture by donating part of the sales to organizations dedicated to passing traditional culture on to future generations.

Dentoya Akatsuki's Mission
[ Dentoya Akatsuki Representative Shohei Sano ]
Dentoya Akatsuki operates with the desire to let more people know about Japan's traditional culture, artisan techniques, and crafts that we can be proud of worldwide.
With the theme of "utilizing techniques and returning to artisans," we aim to deliver products that accompany daily life and create an environment where the people who pick them up, the products, and the artisans connect.
In addition, part of the proceeds from this exhibition will be donated to organizations and groups working to pass traditional culture on to future generations (details will be reported on the blog at a later date).
