Hand-painted Wakasa lacquered chopsticks featuring the popular manga character "Kinnikuman Soldier" are making a comeback. These unique chopsticks are crafted by skilled artisans in Obama City, Fukui Prefecture, which produces over 70% of Japan's lacquered chopsticks.

A Revival of Artisan Craftsmanship

Hikidashi Corporation (Tokyo, Koto Ward; President: Naoyuki Koike) is releasing a revival version of the "Wakasa Lacquered Chopsticks Kinnikuman Soldier" produced by Matsu-Kan Co., Ltd. (Obama City, Fukui Prefecture; President: Akinori Matsumoto). The chopsticks originally launched in 2021 as a popular item featuring traditional Wakasa lacquerware.

Sales will begin on February 9th, 2026 (Monday) — "29 (Niku) Day" — at the official Kinnikuman online store KIN29.COM (https://store.kin29.com/) and the Hikidashi Store (https://store.hkds.jp/).

Unique Hand-Painted Artistry

Each pair of chopsticks is a one-of-a-kind work of art. Obama's chopstick craftsmen carefully hand-paint each piece, capturing the essence of Kinnikuman Soldier from Yudetamago's popular manga series "Kinnikuman."

The design incorporates the camouflage pattern of Soldier's military uniform and his black arm supporters, with each chopstick meticulously painted by brush. Since every camouflage pattern is unique, no two pairs are alike, making each set a truly special piece of functional art that adds color to daily meals and dining tables.

Updated Design for Universal Use

For this revival, the chopsticks have been updated to 22.5cm in length, making them suitable for both men and women. The shape has also been refined to be slightly slimmer, ensuring a comfortable fit in more hands.

The "KIN mark" — the symbol of the Kinnikuman race — is engraved on the chopsticks, which are presented in a paulownia wood box with the KIN mark stamped on top.
