Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto Launches Lemon & Honey Afternoon Tea Starting March 1

Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto (Location: Myohoin Maekawa-cho, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto City, General Manager: Fanny Giblette) will launch its spring restaurant promotion starting March 1 (Sunday). The afternoon tea features lemon and honey as the main theme, with sweets and savories reminiscent of the soft spring sunlight. Along with a limited 20-servings-per-day matcha parfait and cherry-scented takeaway sweets, it vividly celebrates the arrival of spring.

Spring's Captured Light: Lemon & Honey Afternoon Tea

The stand, adorned primarily in vibrant yellow with pastel colors, showcases 6 types of sweets, 5 types of savories, and 4 types of baked goods. Combining the refreshing flavor of lemon with the mellow sweetness of honey and spring ingredients, the menu offers an elegant tea time filled with excitement and splendor.

Highlighted Sweets

Charlotte Apricot Lemon Cake

This is Pastry Chef Nambu's top recommendation: orange bavarian cream and apricot mousse carefully wrapped in sponge, topped with kumquat and lemon jelly.

The top features a honeycomb-shaped cookie, delivering the bright acidity of citrus and a light texture that captures the essence of spring.

Honey Lemon Mousse

A lemon mousse rich with honey sweetness conceals cinnamon dark chocolate within.

On a crispy baked tart, you can enjoy the refreshing lemon flavor balanced with the lingering notes of cinnamon.

Highlighted Savories

Yorkshire Pudding

Chef Harada's top pick is this Yorkshire pudding that reflects the essence of EMBA KYOTO Grill: crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, filled with roasted Wagyu beef, smoked mashed potatoes, and beautifully caramelized onions.

It's finished with a sauce that concentrates the rich umami of meat juices.

Smoked Salmon Sablé

A sablé where lemon-infused cream cheese and smoked salmon layer exquisitely together. Topped with ikura caviar and dill, it offers a deep flavor profile with the smoky richness and elegant aroma spreading across your palate.

Four Types of Baked Goods to Enjoy with Condiments

Unlike traditional afternoon tea, this time we offer four types of baked goods. These items are specially selected to enhance their flavor when enjoyed with the acacia honey and clotted cream provided as condiments.

From left: Financier, Honey Galette, Vanilla Scone, Lemon Pound Cake *Acacia honey and clotted cream are each served in small dishes.

  • Financier

Baked with fragrant butter and almonds, infused with lemon zest.

  • Honey Galette

A crumbly honey-scented galette pairs perfectly with the smooth clotted cream. It's also recommended to add acacia honey for an even more vibrant flavor.

  • Vanilla Scone

A richly vanilla-scented scone. When you add acacia honey to the warm scone, the floral aroma of honey gracefully rises.

  • Lemon Pound Cake

A refreshing lemon pound cake that's addictively delicious while showcasing the natural taste of the ingredients. The sugar coating with its crisp lemon texture wraps everything together in perfect balance.

About Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto

Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto opened on October 15, 2016, at the foot of Higashiyama, where the 800-year-old famous garden "Sekisui-en," also mentioned in the Tale of the Heike, resides. The hotel's main entrance begins with an approximately 100-meter bamboo forest approach, and upon arriving at the lobby, a large window reveals the beautiful greenery of Sekisui-en.

The hotel's interior, arranged around this garden, features 123 guest rooms and suites, and 57 hotel residences designed by Hirsch Bedner Associates, offering ample space. The stylish spaces with Japanese essence provide moments of relaxation. Additionally, the newly revamped steakhouse "EMBA KYOTO Grill" in spring 2025 offers aged steaks, seasonal seafood, charcoal-grilled local vegetables, and the hotel's signature afternoon tea. "The Lounge & Bar" offers limited-quantity original sweets, and in the evening, cocktails and mocktails, while the tea ceremony lounge "Fujuki" in the sukiya-style teahouse across the garden pond serves sweets using matcha during the day, and sake and champagne from dusk against the backdrop of the illuminated garden.

Furthermore, the hotel features a pool, fitness center, and spa for a resort experience. The chapel with natural light and a ballroom that can host up to 360 guests for banquets are stylish spaces available for weddings, conferences, and various receptions.
