Grand Mercure Awaji Island Resort & Spa Opens Kids Lounge Shichifuku - Family Travel Made More Comfortable

Grand Mercure Awaji Island Resort & Spa (Location: Minami-Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture / General Manager: Masahiro Oshiro), which offers panoramic views of the Onaruto Bridge and Naruto Strait, has opened Kids Lounge Shichifuku, a new family-friendly space. Inspired by Awaji Island's traditional "Seven Lucky Gods Pilgrimage," the lounge was designed with the concept of delivering "seven blessings (joys)" to families, creating an enjoyable space for parents and children alike.

Large building blocks for creative play - children can crawl through tunnels or build secret bases, expanding curiosity and creativity

The approximately 460㎡ space has been renovated to include a lawn area where children can play freely, a tatami area for parent-child reading, and a space where adults can relax while watching over their children. The lawn area features large blocks of different shapes called "MOPPS," which encourage creativity. Children can combine them freely to build bridges, secret bases, or pretend vehicles, fostering imagination while moving their bodies—a play area where parents and children can become absorbed together.

The tatami area offers picture books, popular manga, and board games, providing a comfortable relaxation space. Both children and adults can enjoy reading or deepening conversations unique to travel, spending their time as they wish. The lounge also includes a dagashi (traditional Japanese snacks) corner and drink space, valuing not only time for parent-child conversations but also moments when adults can take a breather while watching their children play.

A lounge with a view overlooking the play area for easy supervision. Family conversations flow around nostalgic snacks and drinks

One of the attractions of an all-inclusive stay is enjoying meals, drinks, and lounge access without worrying about additional charges. Through this Kids Lounge, the resort aims to enhance comfort during stays while creating spaces where each guest can relax freely.

The Concept Behind Kids Lounge Shichifuku - Delivering "Seven Blessings"

Awaji Island has long been known for its "Seven Lucky Gods Pilgrimage." Drawing on this local culture as a concept, the lounge was created with the hope that time spent here would become a heart-warming memory for children and a "blessing" for families through the travel experience itself. The hotel offers "seven blessings (joys)" with heartfelt wishes for families creating travel memories together.

Large building blocks MOPPS (Mopps)

1. Blessing of Nurturing Creativity Through touching play equipment and playing with ingenuity, the lounge fosters moments where parents and children can become absorbed together.

2. Blessing of Gathering Around Tatami On tatami mats, gathering around one table naturally brings family members closer together, treasuring such moments.

3. Blessing of Touching Wood's Warmth The soft texture of wooden table games brings a sense of calm different from digital experiences.

4. Blessing of Harmony Through Picture Books and Manga Surrounded by picture books and popular manga that can be enjoyed across generations, parents and children can spend peaceful time together.

5. Blessing of Connection Through Nostalgic Snacks Conversations sparked by nostalgic dagashi gently connect parents and children's hearts. Playing shopkeeper also provides learning experiences through play.

6. Blessing of Special Time Casual moments spent in conversation with snacks and drinks in hand gently color family time.

7. Blessing of Memorable Stays "Let's come again"—such words may naturally come to mind even after returning to daily life from the trip. The hotel wishes that all time spent at this place will remain in family memories and eventually become a "blessing" in their hearts.
