A newly rebranded resort opens in Takayama on Monday, September 14, 2026: Hilton Takayama Resort (operated by JR Central Hotels; President and CEO: Akihiko Ito) has now revealed the details of its in-house facilities and services.
Set in Takayama, one of Japan's leading tourist destinations known for its traditional townscape, crafts, and regional cuisine, the hotel offers restaurants that showcase local flavors and an executive lounge that elevates the stay, delivering a new travel experience found nowhere else.
Lobby

The lobby, the face of the hotel, is designed around the concept of the Takayama Matsuri festival. Drawing on the ornate festival floats of the Takayama Festival and the powerful sparks of hand-held fireworks (tezutsu hanabi) as its main motifs, the space reconstructs their color, dynamism, and craftsmanship in a contemporary form. Bold, original shapes capture the heat and energy of the festival tradition passed down by the people of Takayama, drawing guests into an extraordinary experience unique to this place.
Guest Rooms and Suites

The hotel offers 283 rooms across 10 room types, centered on 35-square-meter guest rooms and 46-square-meter deluxe rooms, including 5 suites. The room designs draw inspiration from Takayama's traditional events, the natural beauty of the Northern Alps, and the unique forms and colors created by the hands of Takayama's craftspeople. Built around the concept of forms that feel distinctly "Takayama" paired with "light and strength," the rooms evoke a Takayama lodge through accent walls featuring the Hida sashiko needlework pattern and Hida furniture used since the hotel's original opening. The suites are designed around the concept of "NEO Mingei," expressing the beauty of Takayama's folk craft tradition through their furniture and artwork.
At the September 14, 2026 opening, the hotel will begin operations with 91 rooms available, gradually adding rooms as renovation work progresses. Reservations will be limited until all 283 rooms become available in spring 2027.

Executive Lounge

A new executive lounge is being added on the 4th floor. Guests staying in executive rooms or suites, as well as Diamond members of the Hilton Honors guest loyalty program, can use the lounge for check-in and check-out, breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails.
The space is designed around the motif of tsugite, Takayama's traditional wood-joining technique, evoking a connection between craftsmanship and a new era, with chairs made from Hida furniture crafted using Gifu Prefecture-grown wood. Guests can enjoy an extraordinary, elevated stay in this exclusive lounge, taking in comfortable interiors and sweeping views of the Northern Alps.
Tenbo no Yu Hot Spring Terrace

"Tenbo no Yu Hot Spring Terrace" offers a superb hot spring experience that soothes mind and body while overlooking the grandeur of the Northern Alps. The indoor and outdoor natural hot spring facilities include an open-air bath and sauna, offering a relaxing time set against the natural beauty of each season.
For guests seeking a more private experience, four private hot spring rooms are also available (reservation required, from 4,400 yen for 45 minutes). Enjoy the special space with family or loved ones.
The hot spring terrace is open not only to overnight guests but also for day-use visits, offering a special hot spring experience even for a short stay.
