Hotel InterContinental Tokyo Bay Hosts Parent-Child Table Manners Class for Spring Break

Hotel InterContinental Tokyo Bay (located at 1-16-2 Kaigan, Minato-ku, Tokyo; General Manager: Hiroyuki Miyata) will host a two-day limited spring break experience event, the "Parent-Child Table Manners Class," at Fine Dining La Provence.

Learning table manners while enjoying authentic French cuisine

The Parent-Child Table Manners Class features table manners lessons supervised by Akihiro Shoji, the restaurant manager and sommelier of La Provence, the hotel's main dining venue serving authentic French cuisine. The class provides detailed instruction on table manners from basic fundamentals.

Participants will learn about the origins and meaning of table manners, proper use of knives and forks, elegant gestures, and more, all while enjoying an authentic French course meal specially prepared by the chef.

The event includes an impressive flambé performance by the chef and a table manners quiz for parents and children to participate in together, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the lesson.

All participating children will receive a certificate of completion and a table manners book. The event is perfect for creating spring break memories or celebrating entrance to middle school, high school, or university with the whole family.

Program Content: Learn about the history of table manners, proper posture (how to sit in a chair, how to use a napkin, how to hold a glass), how to use knives and forks (appetizer, fish dish, meat dish), how to eat soup, how to eat bread, and more while enjoying your meal.

Profile of La Provence and Jillion Manager Akihiro Shoji

Restaurant Manager and Sommelier Akihiro Shoji

With over 20 years of experience at French and Italian restaurants in Japan, Akihiro Shoji currently serves as the restaurant manager for both Fine Dining La Provence and Italian Dining Jillion at Hotel InterContinental Tokyo Bay. He holds qualifications as a sommelier, Japanese sake kikisake-shi (sake taster), and cigar manager, and is responsible for selecting wines for all of the hotel's restaurants and planning seasonal fairs. In recent years, he has cooperated with media coverage on "table manners" pages and provides lessons to companies.
