Kanesada Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Miyoshi, Aichi; Chairman: Kunio Matsubara), a maker of fish paste products, is opening a store in Nagoya's Osu Shopping Street, the neighborhood where the company was founded, for the first time in nearly 95 years. On August 8, 2026 (Saturday) — a date closely associated with Nagoya known as "Maruhachi Day" — fish cake specialty store Neriden Hanare Osu Yokocho Store will open, followed by a new hot dog specialty store, GABU DOGS, in an adjoining space on August 11 (Tuesday).
Kanesada originally operated a store in the Osu Shopping Street when it was founded, bringing the taste of its fish paste products to the local community. Now, after almost 95 years, the company is returning to its birthplace with two new stores that carry on its long-honed fish-paste-making craftsmanship while offering new ways to enjoy the food. Kanesada hopes to deliver a fresh food experience to both local residents and the domestic and international visitors who come to the Osu Shopping Street.
Neriden Hanare Osu Yokocho Store draws on the know-how built up through "Neriden," a brand that operates mainly in department stores in the greater Tokyo area. Alongside its most popular item, Octopus Ginger, the store sells freshly fried fish cakes and soft-serve ice cream, making it suitable for eating while strolling or as a light bite during sightseeing.
GABU DOGS, meanwhile, is a new hot dog specialty concept offering a range of hot dogs — including its signature Chili Dog made with an original chili sauce — along with French fries. By running two stores with different concepts side by side, Kanesada aims to offer visitors to the Osu Shopping Street new food experiences while also contributing to the vitality of the area.
