Summer-Only HOT&COOL Fair Brings Spicy and Cooling Chinese Dishes to RIHGA Royal Hotel Osaka

This summer, the 皇家龍鳳 Chinese restaurant at RIHGA Royal Hotel Osaka, Vignette Collection in Nakanoshima, Osaka, is holding a special HOT&COOL Fair. Running for a limited time from Wednesday, July 1 to Wednesday, September 30, 2026, the fair is designed to help diners eat their way deliciously through the summer heat.

Following last summer's well-received fair, the lineup returns again this year. Built around the two themes of HOT (spicy) and COOL (cooling), it features three dishes that blend the deep, layered heat of Sichuan cuisine with refreshingly cool flavors. As Japan's summers grow more intense year after year, these dishes offer a summery take on Chinese cooking that feels good on a heat-fatigued body.

HOT&COOL Fair Menu Highlights

Mapo Tofu with Three Selectable Spice Levels

An authentic mapo tofu that lets you pick your own heat. Choose from Umakara ("savory spicy"), which draws out the umami hidden beneath the spice; Shibikara ("tingly spicy"), with the addictive numbing buzz of sansho pepper; or Chougekikara ("super extra-hot"), for those looking for a real challenge. It is a serious, full-flavored mapo tofu that even dedicated spice lovers can appreciate.

Yodare-dori (Mouthwatering Chicken) — A Summer Cold-Dish Staple

A cold dish of chilled chicken coated in a mildly spicy sauce of huajiao (Sichuan pepper) and chili oil. A touch of tomato acidity adds a bright accent, making it a fresh, light choice that suits the hot season perfectly.

Cold Tantanmen with Rich White Miso

This cooling dish brings together the mellow richness of Japanese white miso with crisp ya cai (preserved mustard greens) for a layered, satisfying depth of flavor. It is a refreshing menu item to help you forget the heat.

Between the sizzling stimulation of the HOT side and the cool, refreshing edge of the COOL side, each dish lets its own appeal shine.
