Santa Maria Novella (official name: Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella), which traces its origins to 13th-century Florence, Italy, and is known as the "world's oldest pharmacy," opens a new store on the third floor of JR Nagoya Takashimaya on Saturday, August 1.
A Space Inspired by Florence's Historic Pharmacy
The new store introduces the brand's latest store concept, reflecting more than 800 years of fragrance culture and craftsmanship handed down in Florence, for the first time in the Tokai region. The space draws its inspiration from the historic old pharmacy room that still remains within the Santa Maria Novella church, now the brand's Florence flagship store, which once welcomed many visitors as a monastery pharmacy. Deep green Italian velvet and warm, antique-style wooden fixtures come together in a store that carries the aesthetic sensibility cultivated by Italy's refined culture and artisan tradition.
Fragrance Collection
Inside, the store carries a wide range of eau de parfum and eau de cologne fragrances, alongside home fragrance, body care, and other signature items, letting visitors experience the fragrance culture woven in Florence, the birthplace of Santa Maria Novella.
Engraving Event
To celebrate the opening, an engraving event will be held for two days only, on August 1 (Saturday) and August 2 (Sunday), where craftsmen hand-engrave names or anniversary dates onto perfume bottles.
