THE LIVELY Fukuoka Hakata (ザ・ライブリー福岡博多), a hotel in Nakasu, Fukuoka, will offer a winter-only menu at its cafe bar, "THE LIVELY BAR Fukuoka Hakata" (THE LIVELY BAR 福岡博多), from Tuesday, November 17, 2026. The lineup includes monthly sweets that combine chocolate with Basque cheesecake, as well as seasonal drinks.
Hotel Sweets for Every Season
Under the theme "Emode" (エモード, short for "emotional × mode"), THE LIVELY Fukuoka Hakata offers original hotel sweets that change with the season and with each event, as a way to create a new hotel experience through food. Its photogenic sweets, enjoyed in guest rooms and at the cafe, have often been covered by local media and on social media.
"MELTING WINTER," Open to Non-Guests Too
This winter, the hotel is holding a limited-time event called "MELTING WINTER" (メルティング・ウィンター), which is also open to people who are not staying at the hotel.
Its theme is "Winter Gradient That Melts the Heart" (こころ溶かす、冬のグラデーション). Both the sweets and the decorations of the space change month by month through December, January, and February, so each visit offers a different cafe experience. The event follows winter from the chilly start of the season, through the New Year, to the end of winter when signs of spring begin to appear, and expresses the gradual loosening of the heart through its sweets and decorations.
"MELTY BASQUE": Monthly Sweets With Changing Textures
The limited-time sweets are "MELTY BASQUE" (メルティー・バスク), a set of three monthly sweets that pair chocolate with Basque cheesecake. The changing winter scenery from December to February is likened to snow melting, and the shift is expressed through the look and texture of each sweet.
- December: a crunchy texture reminiscent of hard-packed snow
- January: a chewy texture, as if the snow is starting to melt little by little
- February: a creamy, melting texture, as if everything has melted away
Each month has its own flavor, and trying all three over the winter lets you enjoy the season from beginning to end as a single story.

SNOW MELT (Amaou × White Chocolate)
- Available: November 17, 2026 (Tuesday) to December 31, 2026 (Thursday)
A semi-baked white chocolate Basque cheesecake is topped with a rich cassata (iced cheesecake) mixed with Fukuoka-grown "Amaou" (あまおう) strawberries, almonds, pistachios, chopped chocolate, and orange peel. A raspberry glaçage gives it a vivid red finish, and the whole dessert is styled as a Christmas tree.
The mellow sweetness of the white chocolate blends with the sweet-tart Amaou, while tuile and nuts add a crunchy accent. A warm Amaou and raspberry sauce is served on the side. Poured over the chilled cassata, it creates a temperature contrast that looks like snow slowly melting.
MOCHI MELT (Grilled Sweet Bean Paste Mochi × Ruby Chocolate)

A semi-baked ruby chocolate Basque cheesecake, served with mikan (mandarin oranges) and whipped cream, is layered with gyuhi (soft rice cake), grilled sweet bean paste mochi (焼きあんこ餅), and sweet chestnut paste (栗きんとん). It is styled as a kagami mochi, the rice cake offering that celebrates the New Year.
The fruity, tart ruby chocolate is combined with Japanese ingredients such as mochi, sweet bean paste, and matcha for a blend of Japanese and Western flavors. A rich kuromitsu (black sugar syrup) sauce is served on the side. Pouring the sauce over the chewy gyuhi and grilled mochi deepens the flavor.
GIFT MELT (Yame Hojicha × Dark Chocolate)

A semi-baked dark chocolate Basque cheesecake is layered with a Yame hojicha (八女ほうじ茶, roasted green tea) fondant au chocolat, chocolate cream, and mixed berries, and styled as a present in a gift box.
A glossy red chocolate ribbon decorates the top. Breaking open the Yame hojicha fondant au chocolat releases warm hojicha chocolate. The bittersweet, rich dark chocolate is joined by the toasty aroma of Yame hojicha and the sweet-tart mixed berries for a layered flavor. A chocolate espuma sauce is served on the side, and a light pour lets the warm chocolate flowing from the fondant and the airy, melt-in-the-mouth espuma come together in the flavor.

Three Winter Drinks With Aromas
The seasonal drinks are themed on each month's celebration: Christmas in December, the New Year in January, and Valentine's Day in February. They change monthly and come in two types, alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
Each drink lets guests add the finishing touch themselves, such as pouring in sparkling wine or whisking matcha. The flowers, dragées, and other decorations on the glass also follow the motif of each month. The drinks are designed to go well with the sweets, and herbs are infused to extract their aroma and properties into a tincture, which is added to bring out a seasonal scent. Along with the fun of finishing the drink yourself, the flavor and aroma differ from month to month.
