Mango & Melon Bloom Afternoon Tea with Edible Flowers Coming to Toyama Excel Hotel Tokyu This April

Restaurant Ricomonte, located on the 15th floor of Toyama Excel Hotel Tokyu in Toyama City, will serve a seasonal "Mango & Melon Bloom Afternoon Tea" from April 1 (Wednesday) to June 30 (Tuesday), 2026. The menu makes generous use of edible flowers—known as "Bishokuka"—produced by Flowonderful Chikkaen, a flower-growing farm based in Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture. The colorful blooms are not only a visual treat but are meant to be enjoyed as part of the food experience.

An Afternoon Tea That Blooms with Every Bite

As spring shifts toward early summer and the fragrance of sweet blossoms fills the air, ripe seasonal fruits take center stage. The dim sum, served in a steamer basket, is designed to complement the natural sweetness of the fruits. The overall menu draws on Asian influences to create a light and refreshing afternoon tea experience.

Welcome Drink

Welcome Drink: "Jardin de Fleurs" (French for "Garden of Flowers")

A non-alcoholic cocktail where the rich aroma of mango is lifted by sparkling water. Guests can choose their preferred edible flowers, which staff will then arrange tableside—adding a fun and interactive element to the experience.

Stand Upper Tier

Stand Upper Tier

The upper tier of the tea stand is filled with colorful sweets reflecting the transition from spring to early summer. Highlights include a mango roll cake decorated with a honeybee motif—a nod to the sweet nectar of the season—and an adorably shaped melon macaron. Each piece reflects the skill and playfulness of the pastry chef.

Stand Middle Tier

The middle tier features four sweets with varied textures. The mango and melon tart layers crisp, moist pastry with juicy fruit for a blissful combination. A silky mango pudding delivers a burst of fresh sweetness with every spoonful.

The third tier rounds out the spread with hearty and savory options. A melon and mango maritozzo is boldly decorated with edible flowers for a striking presentation. The lineup also includes prosciutto melon, jasmine-scented scones, and mango lemon marinade—an assortment that adds variety and contrast to the tea course.

Two Asian-Inspired Side Dishes

Mango and Melon Compote with Sesame Dumplings and Vanilla Ice Cream, served with Wildflower Honey

Mango and Melon Compote with Sesame Dumplings, Vanilla Ice Cream, and Wildflower Honey

Clean vanilla ice cream, the sweet fragrance of fruit, the mild richness of wildflower honey, and the toasty aroma of sesame dumplings come together in a single dish. The wildflower honey is made from the nectar of many different blossoms, giving it a complex and aromatic flavor.

Dim Sum Platter

Presented in a bamboo steamer, the platter features three types of dim sum: jade dumplings, xiao long bao, and shrimp dumplings. The rising steam carries an inviting aroma that gently complements the sweetness of the fruit dishes.
