A new matcha specialty shop, "MACCHA HOUSE Matcha-kan Asakusa Nakamise Street," will open on Wednesday, November 5th, 2025, bringing authentic matcha experiences to one of Tokyo's most historic shopping streets.
About MACCHA HOUSE Matcha-kan
The shop features fragrant Uji matcha carefully selected by tea masters from Morihan, a historic Kyoto tea house established in 1836 (Tempo 7). Visitors can enjoy a wide range of matcha drinks and sweets made with generous amounts of this premium matcha.
The space offers an authentic Japanese atmosphere where guests can experience matcha through all five senses - the sound of the bamboo whisk preparing the tea, the rich aroma of freshly whisked matcha, and the steam rising from the tea kettle.

Signature Dish: Uji Matcha Tiramisu
The shop's signature item is the Uji Matcha Tiramisu, served in a fragrant hinoki cypress masu box. This dessert achieves a perfect balance between the refined bitterness of premium matcha and the gentle sweetness of mascarpone cream. With its silky, melt-in-your-mouth texture, one taste will leave guests wanting more.

Try the Tea Ceremony: Make Your Own Matcha
The shop offers an extraordinary Japanese cultural experience menu where guests can whisk their own matcha using a traditional bamboo whisk (chasen). First-time visitors can feel confident participating, as video guidance demonstrates the proper whisking technique.
Guests can select their preferred matcha and carefully prepare it to create a one-of-a-kind cup tailored to their taste. The selection includes three carefully chosen, high-quality varieties from Morihan. Each variety offers distinct characteristics in bitterness, umami, and aroma, allowing guests to choose based on their mood or personal preference.

Matcha Nama Warabi Mochi
The shop's fresh nama warabi mochi is carefully prepared in-house and characterized by its smooth texture, pleasant elasticity, and deep green color. Guests are encouraged to first enjoy it plain, savoring the matcha flavor without any toppings. Afterwards, they can add generous amounts of kinako (roasted soybean flour) and kuromitsu (black sugar syrup) to enhance the experience.
The matcha nama warabi mochi is available both for dine-in and as a souvenir, making it perfect as a gift for family or as a special treat.
