This summer, Kawana Hotel in Kawana, Ito, Shizuoka — open since 1936 — is adding a new seasonal treat to the menu at its ocean-view lounge "Sun Parlour." As part of its 90th anniversary project, the hotel will offer a trio of summer-limited shakes called "Summer Cloud Shake," available from June 22 (Monday) to August 31 (Monday), 2026.
Three Flavors Inspired by a Summer Sky
Through the large windows of the Sun Parlour, guests can take in gentle green lawns, the blue of a clear summer sky, and soft pinks shifting from sunrise to sunset. The Summer Cloud Shake translates this summer sky gradient into three distinct drinks, each crafted by the hotel's pastry chef to bring a harmony of visual beauty and flavor.
The lineup includes:
- Melon Mist – A light, refreshing shake that lets the rich flavor of melon come through in an airy way
- Vanilla Sky Passion – A shake that transitions from sweet vanilla to the bright acidity of passion fruit; the flavor evolves as you stir and mix it
- Peach Cloud – A beautifully finished shake with a clean aftertaste from yogurt's tartness, as elegant in appearance as an evening sunset
Each shake is priced at ¥2,900 (tax included; a 15% service charge is added separately at checkout). No reservation is required, though wait times may vary and items may sell out depending on availability.
From a prime seat overlooking Sagami Bay and the Izu Seven Islands, guests can enjoy these chilled drinks in a classic hotel setting that has welcomed visitors across generations.

90th Anniversary Limited Coaster Campaign
2026 marks the 90th anniversary of Kawana Hotel's founding. To celebrate, the hotel is running a seasonal coaster campaign throughout the year under the theme "Four Seasons in Color." Guests who order the Summer Cloud Shake will receive a keychain-style coaster case featuring a summer cloud design — suitable for wearing on a bag or carrying as a keychain.
Unique coaster designs are released for spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Guests who collect all four seasonal coasters will receive a teddy bear dressed in a T-shirt featuring the Kawana Hotel 90th anniversary logo. In addition, guests who bring all four coasters during the winter campaign period will be entered into an on-the-spot lottery for the following prizes:
① A one-night stay for two in a twin room at Kawana Hotel, including breakfast
② A voucher for the omurice — said to have been ordered two consecutive evenings by Marilyn Monroe — served at the Sun Parlour
③ An afternoon tea set for one at the Sun Parlour
④ A cake set for one at the Sun Parlour
Campaign period: Through March 31, 2027 (Wednesday), with separate periods for each season
Lottery period: During the winter campaign, guests who bring all four seasonal coasters will be entered into an on-the-spot drawing
