About Allbirds

Allbirds was born in San Francisco in 2016 through the unique partnership of Tim Brown, a former New Zealand national soccer player, and Joey Zwillinger, a biotechnology expert.

Questioning traditional shoe manufacturing with large logos, flashy colors, and chemical materials, they focused on merino wool from Tim's home country of New Zealand. Believing in the potential of quality merino wool, Tim teamed up with Joey to create Allbirds—a brand combining comfort, sustainability, and simple design.

Their signature "Wool Runners" feature high-quality merino wool that gently wraps around feet. Beyond their comfort with excellent insulation, breathability, and odor resistance, the shoes incorporate recycled polyester in the laces, castor oil in the insoles, and SweetFoam® made from sugarcane in the soles—all designed to reduce carbon footprint. The added convenience of machine washability resonated with consumers. The brand gained support in Silicon Valley, home to cutting-edge technology, and attracted investment from environmental activist and Academy Award winner Leonardo DiCaprio, spreading its reputation worldwide.

The brand has since expanded with the "Tree" series featuring breathable mesh structures made from eucalyptus fiber, and the "Plant" series using 100% plant-based leather. Allbirds continues to develop sustainable and innovative materials, delivering products that consider environmental impact—exactly what modern society needs.
