BE@RBRICK Arrives for Bontan Ame, Kagoshima's Beloved Candy Since 1925

Kagoshima-born candy brand Bontan Ame is getting its own BE@RBRICK. Hikidashi Inc. (Koto-ku, Tokyo) is releasing "BE@RBRICK Bontan Ame 100%," a collaboration item with BE@RBRICK — the figure line from toy maker Medicom Toy — as the third installment in the "Bontan Ame® Pattern" project it is developing together with Seika Foods Co., Ltd. (Kagoshima City, Kagoshima Prefecture).

Pre-orders open September 10, 2026 (Thursday) on the online store Hikidashi Store (https://store.hkds.jp/). In-store sales follow on September 17 (Thursday) at select shops in Kagoshima Prefecture, and on September 19 (Saturday) at Medicom Toy's directly operated stores nationwide (six locations).

A BE@RBRICK for Kagoshima's Long-Loved Candy, Bontan Ame

Bontan Ame has been loved ever since its launch in 1925 (Taisho 14), prized for its soft, chewy, springy texture and the refreshing flavor of bontan (pomelo), a citrus fruit native to southern Japan, that fills the mouth.

The "Bontan Ame® Pattern" project takes the candy's traditional package design as a motif and reimagines it as a textile pattern with a Scandinavian design sensibility.

As the third installment in the project, "BE@RBRICK Bontan Ame 100%" now arrives — a collaboration with BE@RBRICK, the popular bear-shaped block-type figure line from toy maker Medicom Toy.

For this Kagoshima-born Bontan Ame BE@RBRICK, the design imagines Kagoshima's original "Nankoku Shirokuma" dressed in an outfit inspired by the Bontan Ame box that has been loved for more than 100 years.

The front of the body features the "Bontan Ame® Pattern," while the back carries the "Bontan Ame" logo used on the candy's box design in the early Showa era, along with the words "since 1925."

Both arms are colored pink, inspired by the sides of the Bontan Ame box, and the right arm carries the "BONTANAME" lettering used in the early Showa-era box design.

It's a limited-production item born from the collaboration between BE@RBRICK and Bontan Ame, a candy loved across generations.

The package uses a slide-blister design, so it can also be displayed as is.
