The hassun appetizer tray, styled after the traditional Boys' Festival (Tango no Sekku), showcases the vivid greens of the season.

From the colorful opening course through the fragrant dashi soup, the kaiseki progression balances deep tradition with unexpected creativity. About the Property

Guest Room at Ryotei Hanzuiryo

Ryotei Hanzuiryo sits within Unzen, designated Japan's first national park in 1934. Opened in 1992 after five years of planning and development, the property was conceived as a healing retreat in harmony with the four seasons. Its approximately 5,000-tsubo (about 16,500 m²) grounds are home to just 14 private cottage-style rooms, keeping the experience intimate and unhurried.

Accommodation options include two-story Japanese-Western villas with garden views (approx. 250 m²) and a special suite with a private outdoor bath and sauna (approx. 300 m²). Both room types are furnished with carefully selected crafts and art pieces that reflect Japan's artisanal heritage.

Outdoor Bath – Nishi-no-yu

The grounds are often wrapped in mist during early mornings and evenings, lending an especially atmospheric quality to strolls through the estate.
