A new spring-limited item is joining the menu at Kona's Coffee (コナズ珈琲) locations across Japan. The "Mauna Matcha Strawberry Pancake" will be available from Wednesday, March 18 through Sunday, May 17, 2026.
Mauna Matcha Strawberry Pancake
The name "Mauna" (マウナ) comes from the Hawaiian word for "mountain" — a fitting reference to the pancakes stacked high on the plate. The dish is topped with a generous helping of matcha cream and paired with a vibrant strawberry coconut sauce, evoking the colors of spring blooms.
Between the pancake layers, matcha syrup and strawberry confit are layered in. The recommended way to enjoy it is to cut through the stack vertically, letting the rich matcha cream mix with each bite. The combination of fragrant matcha and the sweet-tart flavor of strawberry creates a fusion of Japanese and Western taste.
The finishing touch is two types of strawberry frozen treats: a chunky strawberry ice with bits of fruit, and a ripe strawberry sorbet. These can be mixed in with the sauce for an added layer of refreshing flavor.

Kona's Coffee is a Hawaiian-themed cafe and restaurant concept with the tagline "the closest Hawaii." The interiors are filled with colorful Hawaiian decor, surfboards, and eclectic furniture designed to evoke the laid-back atmosphere of a local living room in Hawaii.
